Abstract

Open access scientific journals have exponentially increased the number of publications and the number of authors respectively, who can publish a scientific article and take responsibility for its content. Generally, the main author maintains that denomination and the other authors are usually named as co-authors, however, the authorship of a manuscript is the entire responsibility of all those who enter their data in it. In many scientific articles, the authors usually invite other professionals to collaborate with the manuscripts, this is a practice that allows sharing different points of view, improving the quality of scientific writing and including researchers of different nationalities (J et al., 2017). Through this invitation, a bad practice tends to develop in the scientific publications of open access journals that are starting the path towards greater visibility, because they tend to summon colleagues from their academic environments, with whom they share spaces of common work, this practice is called honorary authorship
